Hadrien David was born in 1981 in London and grew up in Paris between the Marais and the latin Quarter. From his father, the famous sculptor Jose Maria David, Hadrien inherited his love for modelling animals full of fancy and movement.
Sculpture
He learnt the direct stone cutting technique at the ateliers des Beaux-Arts de la Glacière (13th district of Paris) and studied drawing with Philippe Comar at the Beaux-Arts de Paris.
"At the age of 20, I could already shapes all possible forms. But drawing taught me how to observe. I began skettching for hours in museums and zoos of Paris. Eventually, I drew its trees and buildings. Soon, I began exhibiting in art galleries. Which I still do."
History and Philosophy at Sorbonne
Later on, Hadrien studied history and philosophy at Sorbonne University. Since this time, he tries to find a balance between matter and spirit, space and time.
Internship to become a certified guide
He eventually found this equilibrium following the guided tours of our experienced private guide Flora Goldenberg: "While guiding, streets, monuments and masterpieces suddenly animate themselves. Exactly as matter does in the sculptural process. Guiding really renews my approach of Paris and history of art. Flora shows me the path that leads to recreation."
Hadrien's animals allow themselves to "ape" human's wisdom or to invade our usual objects and ornements. They appear be the fanciest mean to reinterpret the works of the masters. Now, Hadrien sheds light on them for you !
